We have made improvements to our HomeBase Tune-Up, Client File Maintenance, Database Maintenance and Re-Sync Database features. We encourage you to use these features regularly in order to improve performance and stability, especially if you have over 1,000 clients.
For your convenience, we have provided information on how some of these features can be used to help you resolve certain situations.
HomeBase Tune-Up
The HomeBase Tune-Up feature reindexes your client file database. This procedure helps ensure the integrity of your HomeBase client file database. ProSeries users can use either one of the following methods to run HomeBase Tune-Up. ProSeries Basic Edition users must use the first method to run HomeBase Tune-Up.
Re-Sync Database (ProSeries/Network Version)
If ProSeries is installed for network use, the Re-Sync Database feature re-synchronizes the HomeBase client file database on a network workstation with the HomeBase client file database on the server or serving computer. Use the Re-Sync Database feature on a workstation if you notice that specific data in HomeBase on that workstation is not as current as the corresponding data in HomeBase on another workstation. To run Re-Sync Database on ProSeries/Network Version:
- Start ProSeries on the workstation. In HomeBase, go to the HomeBase menu and select Re-Sync Database.
Rebuild Database (ProSeries/Network Version)
If ProSeries is installed for network use, the Rebuild Database rebuilds your HomeBase files (using back-up journal files). To run Rebuild Database:
-
On a workstation, highlight the ProSeries icon on the desk top and hold down the Shift key while you press Enter. Continue to hold down the Shift key. When the message "ProSeries is attempting to rebuild your HomeBase files. Do you wish to continue?" appears, release the Shift key and click Yes.
Note: If you have access rights enabled, release the Shift key and type your user name and password. Hold down the Shift key and click OK. Continue to hold down the Shift key.
The Rebuild Database process takes anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the number of ProSeries client files.
Database Maintenance (standalone)
The Database Maintenance feature helps to ensure that your client files correspond to your HomeBase Client File database by synchronizing your HomeBase Client File database with your client files. To run Database Maintenance:
-
Start ProSeries. In HomeBase, go to the HomeBase menu and select Database Maintenance. In the Browse for Folder dialog box, select the data directory that you want to scan. (The ProSeries default data folder is 07Data.) To include subdirectories in your search, select Include subdirectories. Click OK to start the search. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Update Acknowledgment Status of Selected Returns
If the status in the HomeBase EF Center and Bank Products views do not appear to be updated, you can update the acknowledgments for one or more returns:
-
In HomeBase, go to the EF Center view. Highlight all client files that are affected by this situation. From the E-File menu, select Electronic Filing and Update Statuses of Selected Returns. In the Update Acknowledgement Status of Selected Returns and Extensions dialog box, choose Update only the selected returns and extensions and click Check Now.
-
In HomeBase, go to the EF Center view. Highlight all client files that are affected by this situation. From the E-File menu, select Bank Products and Update Selected Acknowledgments. Enter the client's SSN in the dialog box and click OK.
To resolve the following situations use the features listed in the table below. Use the first suggested feature. If that does not resolve the situation and other features are suggested, try those features in the suggested order.
