ProSeries Frequently Asked Questions

Voiding and Issuing a New Bank Product Check

Products Affected:

  • ProSeries Professional/1040
  • ProSeries Basic

Situation
How do I void and issue a new check?
Solution
To void the check, hand write "VOID" across the face of the check and store the check with your stock of checks.

To issue a new check:

  1. Put a new check in the check printer.
  2. In the Bank Products HomeBase view, select the taxpayer's return.
  3. Go to the E-file menu, point to Bank Products, and select Resolve Check Problems.
  4. In the Resolve Check Problems dialog box, select the appropriate option:
    • Adjust Check Number(s) - If the number on a check does not match the number in HomeBase.
    • Replace Lost/Stolen Check(s) - If a check is lost, stolen or completely destroyed.
    • Reprint Check(s) - If a check number is displayed in HomeBase but the check did not print on check stock.
    • Void and Issue New Check(s) - If a check is damaged or printed with incorrect/illegible information.

Note: Replace Lost/Stolen Check(s) should be used with care as SBBT will need to stop payment on the original check and it can take several days to get authorization for a new check.

  5. Click OK. If the Void and Issue New Checks validation error dialog box appears, follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the errors.
  6. When the Void and Issue New Check(s) dialog box appears, enter the number of the check in the printer in the  Beginning Check Number field, if not already filled in.
  7. Select a print option and click Print. Remember to transmit the check status if you choose to only print the check.
