ProSeries Fixed Asset Manager May Crash When Importing an Asset Without a Depreciation Method

Products Affected:

  • ProSeries/Fixed Asset Manager
  • ProSeries

Situation

When attempting to import assets from the ProSeries tax software into the Fixed Asset Manager software, if an asset has a depreciation type but no depreciation method it may cause the Fixed Asset Manager software to crash.

Solution

This situation will be corrected in Fixed Asset Manager v2007.01. We anticipate that Fixed Asset Manager v2007.01 will be available online on or about January 18, 2008. When this release becomes available, you can download it from My ProSeries:

  1. Before you begin the download process, close any ProSeries products you may have running.
  2. On ProSeries.com, click My ProSeries on the top navigation and login to My ProSeries.
  3. Under Product Information, click Download Products.
  4. In the Tax Year field, select 2007 and in the Tax Product Family field, select Productivity Products.
  5. If you have purchased 2007 Fixed Asset Manager, it should appear in the list of products that are available for download. To begin the downloading process, click the Download button for Fixed Asset Manager 2007.01.
  6. In the File Download dialog box, when asked "Do you want to run or save this file?" we recommend that you click Save.
  7. In the Save As dialog box, save the file to your computer's hard drive. Be sure to note the file name so you can identify it when the download is complete. (We suggest that you save it to a temporary directory such as C:\Temp or to your Windows Desktop.)
  8. If the Download Complete dialog box displays, click Open to unpack the file and begin the installation process. If this dialog box does not display, locate the saved file and double-click on it.
  9. The ProSeries installation utility will start. Follow the on-screen instructions.
