Situation
When Form 1040 is marked for electronic filing the Form Status bar displays the message "This form is NOT EF READY but can be printed" even though Form 1040 should be ready for electronic filing. This situation occurs even after downloading and installing the Federal 1040 update that became available online on January 10, 2008.
Solution
This situation is corrected in an update that became available online at 11:30 a.m. (Pacific Time) on January 11, 2008. Download and install this update if you have not already done so. (Go to the Update menu and select Update Installed Products.)
Note: This update only contains an XML file. When you perform the update process, if there are no other updates available this update will display "No ProSeries updates found..." in the ProSeries Update dialog box. The Form Status bar should no longer display across the top of Form 1040.
Workaround (prior to the update)
This situation only affects the Forms Availability feature. If the tax return is eligible for electronic filing and does not include any non-final forms, run Final Review and correct all other errors. Convert and transmit the tax return as you normally would.
