Will the 2007 ProSeries software run on all editions of the Windows Vista operating system?

We are testing the 2007 ProSeries software on Windows Vista and are confident that the 2007 ProSeries software will run on all release editions of Windows Vista. ProSeries software will not run properly when using a pre-release version of Windows Vista (Beta 2, RC1, or RC2).

Will the 2007 ProSeries software only run on the Windows Vista operating system?

The 2007 ProSeries software will run on several different Windows operating systems. Below are the recommended requirements for Windows operating systems on stand-alone systems:

  • Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate)
  • Windows XP (Service Pack 2, Home, Media, Professional Edition)

Below are the recommended requirements for Windows operating systems on network systems:

  • Windows Vista (Business, Ultimate)
  • Windows XP (Service Pack 2, Professional Edition)
  • Windows 2003 Server (Service Pack 1)
  • Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 4)

Will there be different versions of 2007 ProSeries and ProSeries Basic Edition for the different Windows operating systems?

ProSeries and ProSeries Basic Edition will run on all Windows operating systems supported by ProSeries. Separate versions for the different Windows operating systems will not be needed.

Will I need to run the 2007 ProSeries software using the Windows Vista administrator option?

We are designing the 2007 ProSeries software to run with the User Account Control (UAC) in Windows Vista. Of course, you can use the Windows Vista administrator option if you wish.

Will the 2007 ProSeries software run on 64-bit Vista workstations?

ProSeries will not be tested on 64-bit Vista workstations, but it will probably run on this platform.

Will the 2007 ProSeries add-on solutions run on the Windows Vista operating system?

We are designing the 2007 ProSeries add-on solutions (Client Organizer, Practice Manager, Fixed Asset Manager, Document Management System, Source Doc Auto Entry, Forms Library, and Research Library) to run on Windows Vista.

Will the 2006 ProSeries software and prior years run on the Windows Vista operating system?

The 2006 ProSeries software and prior years were not designed to run on the Windows Vista operating system. Windows Vista has several significant differences from other Windows operating systems. As a result, our quality assurance analysts have been testing 2003 through 2006 ProSeries programs on Windows Vista operating systems. Note: Some prior years, may not run properly using the Windows Vista administrator option. You may want to consider keeping a system that uses the Windows XP operating system for running prior years of ProSeries software.

Will using Windows Vista affect the downloading and installing of 2007 ProSeries products and updates?

Downloading and installing 2007 ProSeries products and updates will function on all Windows operating systems supported by ProSeries, including Windows Vista.

Important: When installing a 2007 ProSeries program if you do not accept the default folder install location and attempt to change it to a folder under C:\Windows or C:\Program Files you will receive a message indicating that some users may not have access to the folder specified. This is due to the User Access Control (UAC) policies in Vista and can be avoided by not installing under these folders.

Will using Windows Vista affect the transferring of my 2006 ProSeries client files to 2007 ProSeries?

You will be able to transfer your 2006 ProSeries client files to 2007 ProSeries on all Windows operating systems supported by 2007 ProSeries, including Windows Vista.

Are the 2007 ProSeries system requirements different for Windows Vista users?

The 2007 ProSeries system requirements are not different for Windows Vista users. Your system needs to meet the Windows Vista system requirements for your edition of Vista and the 2007 ProSeries system requirements. When using Vista we suggest that you have the 2007 ProSeries recommended requirements, instead of the minimum requirements.

Will using Windows Vista affect printing with the 2007 ProSeries software?

If your printer meets the Windows Vista system requirements and 2007 ProSeries system requirements, you should be able to print with the 2007 ProSeries software.

Be sure you have the most up-to-date printer driver for your model printer. Most printer manufacturers have the latest printer drivers available for download on their Web sites.

Will using Windows Vista affect printing to ProSeries Document Management System (DMS) or Portable Document Format (PDF) files?

To accommodate for Windows Vista the 2007 ProSeries software will be using a new Amyuni printer driver for printing to the DMS program and PDF files. This new Amyuni printer driver will function on all Windows operating systems supported by ProSeries.
