ProSeries Basic Edition
You can install new products or update existing products from the ProSeries CD.
To install ProSeries software from the ProSeries CD:
- Close all open applications and temporarily disable any virus-protection utilities on your computer.
- Insert the ProSeries CD into the appropriate drive. (Do not remove the CD from the drive until the installation is completed.) If the Installation dialog box does not appear automatically:
- Go to the Windows taskbar, click Start, then choose Run.
- Type X:\CDSETUP in the Run dialog box (where X represents the letter for the drive containing the ProSeries CD) and click OK.
- When the Installation dialog box appears, click Install ProSeries and OK.
- In the Welcome dialog box, review the information and click Next.
- In the Software License Agreement dialog box, read the software license agreement, then click I accept the terms of the license agreement if you agree to accept all the terms of the software license agreement, then click Next. (Click I do not accept the terms of the license agreement to discontinue the installation.)
- In the Select an Installation Type dialog box, select Stand Alone, then click Next. (This dialog box will only display during your initial installation.)
Network Users: If you are installing ProSeries to a network, please see the Network Installation Guide shipped with your order. (There is no network version for the ProSeries Basic Edition.)
- In the Select Destination Directory dialog box, click Next to accept the default destination. (If you are installing to a different drive or directory, click the Browse button and select the drive or directory.)
- ProSeries default = C:\ProWin07
- ProSeries Basic Edition default = C:\BasWin07
- In the Tax Year 2007 Product Selections dialog box, select all the products that you plan to use and click Next.
- In the Installation Note dialog box, review the list of products that will be installed later, then click OK.
- In the Installation Details dialog box, review the information. Click Next to continue or Back to change your selections.
- When the installation process is completed the Setup Complete dialog box displays. If you want to continue with the ProSeries setup, verify that the Launch ProSeries box is checked, and click Finish. (If you do not want to proceed with the setup at this time, uncheck the Launch ProSeries check box and click Finish.)
- The Connected Customer dialog box will display and perform the following tasks: initialize connection, license products, and import your firm information. When the tasks are complete, click Next to continue.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.
- After installing your ProSeries tax software, remember to enable your virus-protection software.
Note: If a Restart Windows message appears, restart your computer to update the Windows system files before you use your ProSeries tax software.
To update ProSeries software from the ProSeries CD:
- Close all open applications and temporarily disable any virus-protection utilities on your computer.
- Insert the ProSeries CD into the appropriate drive. (Do not remove the CD from the drive until the installation is completed.) If the Installation dialog box does not appear automatically:
- Go to the Windows taskbar, click Start, then choose Run.
- Type X:\CDSETUP in the Run dialog box (where X represents the letter for the drive containing the ProSeries CD) and click OK.
- When the Installation dialog box appears, click Install ProSeries and OK.
- In the Welcome dialog box, review the information and click Next.
- If the Updates Available dialog box appears, click Update to update all the previously-installed products and install all the products listed in the dialog box that weren't installed previously because they weren't available.
- If the All Products Are Up-To-Date dialog box appears, click Exit or Select Add'l Products if you want to select additional products. In the Install Detail dialog box, review the list of products, then click Next.
- In the Software License Agreement dialog box, read the software license agreement, then click I accept the terms of the license agreement if you agree to accept all the terms of the software license agreement, then click Next. (Click I do not accept the terms of the license agreement to discontinue the installation.)
- When the installation process is complete the Setup Complete dialog box displays. If you want to continue with the ProSeries setup, verify that the Launch ProSeries box is checked, and click Finish. (If you do not want to proceed with the setup at this time, uncheck the Launch ProSeries check box and click Finish.)
Note: If the version of the User's Guide that's on the ProSeries CD is more recent than the version of the guide that's installed on your system, the User's Guide will be updated.
- After installing your ProSeries tax software, remember to enable your virus-protection software.
