ProSeries/1040 and ProSeries Basic/1040
    Amending an Individual Federal Return (Form 1040X)
    Form 1040X is included in the ProSeries federal individual software. The software works by bringing the current figures into Form 1040X and "freezing" the figures in Column A of the form. View KB Article

    IRS Offers Tax Payment Options
    On April 9, 2009, the IRS issued News Release IR-2009-39, reminding taxpayers to file their federal tax returns and pay any taxes they owe by the April 15 deadline. Aware that the economic downturn has affected many people, the agency urged taxpayers in difficult financial situations to file a tax return, pay what they can and work with the IRS to establish a payment plan that will keep them compliant.     IRS Grants Minnesota, North Dakota Flood Victims until May 15 To File Tax Returns, Make Payments
    On April 2, 2009, the IRS issued News Release IR-2009-32, announcing that victims of severe flooding in Minnesota and North Dakota have an extra 30 days, until May 15, to file their 2008 individual tax returns and pay any taxes due. For more information, please visit the IRS Web site.

    Note: In the ProSeries program, open the Federal Information Worksheet and scroll down to Part IX. Under IRS Disaster Tax Relief enter "severe storms flooding." This text will print at the top of the tax return.

 Federal Electronic Filing and Bank Products Software
ProSeries/1040 and ProSeries Basic/1040
    Electronic Filing Deadlines for Individual Returns and Extensions
    Federal Individual returns or extensions must be transmitted to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center by midnight on April 15, 2009 in the ERO's time zone. Returns or extensions e-filed on or before April 15, 2009 and rejected are allowed 5 calendar days to retransmit. View KB Article

    Electronic Filing Deadlines for Partnership Returns and Extensions
    Federal Partnership returns or extensions must be transmitted to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center by midnight on April 15, 2009 in the ERO's time zone. Returns or extensions that are timely e-filed and rejected can be corrected and retransmitted by the later of the due date of the return or 20 calendar days from the date the rejection was issued by the IRS. Minnesota Individual (E-File)
    2008 Minnesota Individual Electronic Filing Reject 0528
    Due to recent tax law changes Form M1NC is no longer required. ProSeries Minnesota Individual update (version 2008.02E) now available online addresses these tax law changes and must be installed before transmitting or resubmitting Minnesota Individual returns that contain extender deductions.     How to Add a State
    The fastest and easiest way to add state products as soon as they are available is to download them from within the ProSeries program. Within the ProSeries program, you can use either the Update menu or Add State button. View KB Article
