April 15 - Tax Filing Deadline

The April 15 tax filing deadline is fast approaching and we know this is a busy time for you. That's why ProSeries offers a variety of online support options available 24/7.

  • April 13 - 14, 5:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. (PT)
  • April 15, 5:00 a.m. - midnight (PT)

    TIP: Increase Pay Per Return (PPR) Account Balance Online
    You can increase your PPR account balance online 24/7. You can quickly increase your PPR account balance from the Tools menu within your ProSeries program. View KB Article

ProSeries/1040 and ProSeries Basic/1040
    IRS Grants Minnesota, North Dakota Flood Victims until May 15 To File Tax Returns, Make Payments
    On April 2, 2009, the IRS issued News Release IR-2009-32, announcing that victims of severe flooding in Minnesota and North Dakota have an extra 30 days, until May 15, to file their 2008 individual tax returns and pay any taxes due. For more information, please visit the IRS Web site.

    Note: In the ProSeries program, open the Federal Information Worksheet and scroll down to Part IX. Under IRS Disaster Tax Relief enter "severe storms flooding." This text will print at the top of the tax return.

 Federal Electronic Filing and Bank Products Software
ProSeries/1040 and ProSeries Basic/1040
    Electronic Filing Deadlines for Individual Returns and Extensions
    Federal Individual returns or extensions must be transmitted to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center by midnight on April 15, 2009 in the ERO's time zone. Returns or extensions e-filed on or before April 15, 2009 and rejected are allowed 5 calendar days to retransmit. View KB Article

ProSeries/1065

    Electronic Filing Deadlines for Partnership Returns and Extensions
    Federal Partnership returns or extensions must be transmitted to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center by midnight on April 15, 2009 in the ERO's time zone. Returns or extensions that are timely e-filed and rejected can be corrected and retransmitted by the later of the due date of the return or 20 calendar days from the date the rejection was issued by the IRS. Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (SBBT) Users

    SBBT Bank Product Cut-Off Dates
    SBBT has announced their bank product cut-off dates for tax year 2008. RAL requests must be IRS accepted and received at SBBT by Monday, April 20, 2009. Any RAL requests received on Tuesday, April 21 and thereafter will be automatically converted to a Refund Transfer. View SBBT Notices

Florida Corporation and Partnership
    Florida Additions and Subtractions for Bonus Depreciation and Section 179 Expense
    Florida Legislature has passed new laws retro active to January 1, 2008 with regards to providing an add back over 7 years, beginning with tax years that begin in 2008, for the disallowed federal bonus depreciation and the amount of Section 179 expenses over $128,000. View KB Article

    Hawaii Corporation and Partnership Diagnostics Does Not Run

Iowa Individual

    Iowa Status on Federal Extenders for Tax Year 2008
    On April 7, 2009, the Iowa Department of Revenue issued the following notice: "We continue to receive inquiries about whether Iowa will adopt the federal provisions for what are commonly referred to as the federal “extenders.” As we stated previously, this is a decision that is made by the Iowa Legislature. To date, the Legislature has not taken action to couple with the 2008 federal law provisions for extenders..." View KB Article

Minnesota Individual

    2008 Minnesota Legislation Partially Conforms with Federal Tax Provisions
    Legislation enacted April 3, 2009, adopts all of the federal tax provisions enacted after February 13, 2008, with the exception of the federal deduction for educator expenses and the deduction for higher education tuition and fees. This requires the two federal deductions to be added back to Minnesota taxable income for tax year 2008. View KB Article

    Ohio Form IT 2023 Not Calculating When Taxpayer is Resident and Spouse is Nonresident
    Ohio Form IT 2023, Income Allocation and Apportionment Nonresident Credit and Part-Year Resident Credit, is not calculating when the taxpayer is a resident and the spouse is a nonresident. View KB Article
