Product Updates
It is important that you update your software regularly.
(Go to the Update menu and select Update Installed
Products.)
After installing an update, we recommend that you view the
ReadMe file. The ReadMe for each module contains information
regarding issues to be aware of, tax legislation issues
and more.
To view a ReadMe file, go to the Help menu and select
Help Center. Under Technical Support, double-click
ReadMe Information, and select the appropriate module.

Searching for answers in our Online Support Knowledge
Base is quick and easy. Go to
Online Support on our Web site. In the Search
the Knowledge Base field, type your question or keyword,
then click the Search button. Browse the list of
possible answers on the search results page.
If you are unable to find the answer to your question
in the Knowledge Base, click the Still Need Help?
button. Login to My ProSeries and follow the on-screen
instructions. You can view Instant Answers, Email Support,
Chat, or Call Us (you'll skip to the front of the phone
queue).

TIP: Using the Access Rights Feature
The Access Rights feature can be used to control access
to the program and specific features within the ProSeries
software. Use of the Access Rights feature is optional.
If your firm elects to use the Access Rights feature,
an Access Rights Administrator will need to be designated.

1120S Return
ProSeries permits you to change entities from a corporation to an S corporation during the transfer of a prior year ProSeries/1120 client file to a current year ProSeries/1120S client file.

User guides for ProSeries business tax software can be
found in the Help Center. Open a federal business tax
return, from the Help menu, select Help Center.
In the side bar, under Tax Return Help, click How To
Use ProSeries... to open the user guide for that return
type.

March 16 - Important Filing Deadline
Reminder, the filing deadline for 2008 calendar year corporation
tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120A, and 1120S), or to request
an automatic 6-month extension of time to file (Form 7004)
is March 16, 2009.
Generally, corporations must file by the 15th day of the
3rd month after the end of its tax year. If the due date
falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the corporation
can file on the next business day.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
On February 17, 2009 President Obama signed the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 into law. The 2008
ProSeries and ProSeries Basic individual tax programs
and ProSeries business tax programs have been updated
due to the passage of this bill. It is important that
you download and install the latest updates.

Deadlines for Retransmitting Rejected Corporation Returns
The deadline for 2008 calendar year corporation tax returns
(Forms 1120, 1120A, and 1120S), or to request an automatic
6-month extension of time to file (Form 7004) is March
16, 2009. Federal corporation electronically filed returns
that are timely filed and rejected can be corrected and
retransmitted by the later of the due date of the return
or 20 calendar days from the date the rejection was issued
by the IRS.

New Jersey Corporation, Schedule S, Line 11e Calculation Incorrectly Gives Section 179
The calculation on New Jersey Form CBT-100, pg 14, Schedule S, line 11e and Form CBT-100S, pg 17, Schedule S, line 11e is incorrect when the taxpayer has more than $200,000 in current year assets and Section 179 is taken on the federal return. Line 11e is being reduced by the allowable New Jersey Section 179 maximum of $25,000, even though it was not allowed.

Texas Franchise Tax Download Available Online
The 2008 Texas Franchise Tax program includes new formatting
standards established by Texas to enhance return processing.
The new formatting standards have required special programming
changes and created functionality in the Texas return
that is different than what is commonly associated with
ProSeries programs. To download and install this program
go to the Update menu and choose Select and
Download New Products. Verify that TX 1120
is checked and click Next. Follow the on-screen
instructions. View

Texas Franchise Tax (2007 Fiscal Year) Download Available
Online
The 2007 Fiscal Year Texas Franchise Tax download is available
online. To download and install the 2007 Fiscal Year Texas
Franchise Tax program go to the Fiscal
Year State Manual Downloads page, click Texas
Fiscal Year Corp and follow the on-screen instructions.
(The 2007 Federal Corporation software must be installed.)
