  • Task Scheduler Will Stop Checking for Updates on May 15
    The Task Scheduler in 2007 ProSeries will automatically stop checking for updates on May 15, 2008. To get updates without using the Task Scheduler, go to the Update menu and choose Update Installed Products.

  • Filing Deadline for Exempt Organization Returns and Extensions
    Reminder, file Exempt Organization returns and extensions by the 15th day of the 5th month after the organization's accounting period ends. If you need to file an extension, use Form 8868, Application for Extension of Time to File an Exempt Organization Return.

  • IRS Has Answers to Questions People Are Asking About Economic Stimulus Payments; IRS Urges People to Visit IRS.gov
    On May 7, 2008, the IRS issued News Release IR-2008-70, announcing that as millions of Americans begin receiving their economic stimulus payments, the Internal Revenue Service released a list of the most-frequently-asked questions –– and answers –– that people now are asking.   • Relief for Stimulus Payments Withdrawn from IRAs and Tax-Favored Accounts
    On April 30, 2008, the IRS issued News Release IR-2008-68, announcing that economic stimulus payments directly deposited into IRAs and other tax-favored accounts may be withdrawn tax-free and penalty-free. This relief is designed to help taxpayers who may have been unaware that by choosing direct deposit for their entire regular tax refund, they were also choosing to have their stimulus payment directly deposited as well. If a taxpayer elected a split refund, however, their stimulus payment will be paid by a paper check. For more information, please visit the IRS Web site.

  • TIP: IRS Error Reject Code F990N-901
    The year-end date on the electronically filed return must match the Employer Identification Number (EIN) year-end date on file with the IRS. If not, you may receive error reject code F990N-901 when you attempt to electronically file the return. Learn more

  • Texas Corporation Updates Now Available Online
    ProSeries Texas Corporation updates became available online on May 13, 2008. After installing an update, we recommend that you view the ReadMe information for that release.

    Texas Comptroller Susan Combs announced that businesses who are unable to meet the May 15 due date for the franchise tax will have an additional 30 days to submit revised franchise tax returns or request an extension without penalty. Learn more
