ProSeries May Crash When Running Final Review on a Corporation Extension Marked for E-Filing

Situation

When running Final Review or Check for Return Errors on a federal corporation extension marked for electronic filing the ProSeries software may crash. This situation occurs when an ERO Practitioner Personal Identification Number (PIN) is not entered in the Preparer/Electronic Return Originator (ERO) Information area of the Firm/Preparer Information section of the Options dialog box.

Note: The ERO Practitioner PIN is required as the signature method only when paying the balance due amount by electronic funds withdrawal.

Workaround

1. From the Tools menu, choose Options, and select Firm/Preparer Info.
2. Locate the preparer assigned to this extension and enter a PIN in the ERO Practitioner PIN field.
3. Click OK.
4. Run Final Review or Check for Return Errors.
