IRS Grants Tax Relief for Alabama Storm and Tornado Victims

On March 8, 2007, the Internal Revenue Service announced special tax relief for Alabama taxpayers in the Presidential Disaster Area that was struck by severe storms and tornadoes March 1, 2007.

The disaster area consists of the following counties: Coffee, Dale, Dallas, Henry, Jefferson, Montgomery and Wilcox.

Deadlines for affected taxpayers to file returns, pay taxes and perform other time-sensitive acts falling on or after March 1, 2007 and on or before April 30, 2007 have been postponed to April 30, 2007. For more information, visit the IRS Web site.

Note: The ProSeries software does not permit electronic filing of Form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, after April 26, 2007.
