Some taxing authorities are experiencing a higher than normal rate of rejected direct deposits by receiving banks. The primary reasons the direct deposit transactions are failing are due to "Account Closed" and "Invalid Bank Account Number." These problems create a backlog in refund check reissuance, which delays when the taxpayer receives their refund.
It is important that you verify the bank account information with your clients every year and accurately enter the information to reduce the chance of this happening to your clients.
Reminder, after you transmit a return or extension to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center you cannot recall that return or extension.
