Federal 1065 Returns With IRS Reject Code R0000-019 and Form 3115

Situation

The IRS electronic filing reject code R0000-019 occurs when Form 3115, Application for Change in Accounting Method, is part of the return.

Solution

This situation will be corrected in the Form 1065 update anticipated to be available online on or about March 27, 2007. Download and install this update when it becomes available. (From the Update menu, choose Update Installed Products.)

Workaround (prior to update)

If you cannot wait for the update, you can electronically file the federal partnership return and paper file Form 3115 separately:

1. In the return, open Form 3115, p1-3 and scroll down to the Filing Method Smart Worksheet. Check the On Paper box to indicate how the form will be filed.
2. Save the return.
3. Convert and transmit the federal partnership return.
4. Print Form 3115 and mail it to the IRS.
