Additional 15% Tax From Form 8853 Does Not Flow to Form 1040 in ProSeries Basic Edition

Situation

In ProSeries Basic Edition, when the additional 15% tax is calculated on Form 8853, Archer MSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts, line 11b, the amount does not transfer to Form 1040, Additional Other Taxes Smart Worksheet, line G.

Solution

This situation will be corrected in the Basic 1040 update anticipated to be available online on or about March 7, 2007.

Download and install this update when it becomes available. (Go to the Update menu and select Update Installed Products.)

Workaround (prior to update)

Manually enter the amount of the additional 15% tax on line G of the Additional Other Taxes Smart Worksheet.
