Federal Error Reject Code 0357

Situation

You may receive the electronic filing error reject code (ERC) 0357 when Form 1040, line 23 reports educator expenses.

Workaround 

1. If you have not already done so, download and install the latest ProSeries/Basic 1040 update. (Go to the Update menu and select Update Installed Products.)
2. After installing the latest update, enter the educator expenses on either Form 8863 or the Educator Expense Worksheet. (Open Form 1040, in the Line 23 Detail Archer MSA and Educator Expenses table above line 23, double-click line A to open the Educator Expense Worksheet, or double-click line B to open Form 8863, Archer MSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts.)
3. Retransmit the return.
