Form 1040, Schedule A May Incorrectly Have Two Entries for Florida Intangibles Tax

• ProSeries/1040
• ProSeries Express/1040
• ProSeries Basic/1040

Situation

On Form 1040, Schedule A, the Florida Intangibles Tax appears on both lines 5 and 8, doubling the amount claimed as a deduction.

Solution

This situation will be corrected in the Federal 1040 update anticipated to be available online on or about February 21, 2007.

Download and install the update when it becomes available. (Go to the Update menu and select Update Installed Products.)

Workaround (prior to update)

Manually enter the amount of the Florida Intangibles Tax on the State and Local Tax Deduction Worksheet, line 20 to adjust the amount included on Schedule A, line 5.
