Error Message: "The following shared form file is in use..."

When attempting to edit your firm/preparer information or global billing options you receive the error message: "The following shared form file is in use! The option that you are trying to access is part of your firm's shared forms file. Currently <Computer Name> is working on one of the shared forms. Click "OK" to view the "Read Only" version of the form. If you wish to make modifications, please try again."
This situation may occur when another workstation or user already has the firm/preparer information or global billing options opened. This message is designed to help prevent multiple revisions from occurring at the same time.
To review your firm/preparer information or global billing options without making edits:
- When this message appears on the screen, click OK.
- Review your firm/preparer information or global billing options and follow the on-screen instructions.
To edit your firm/preparer information or global billing options, when a shared forms file is opened by another workstation or user:
- Go to the workstation listed in the message (...<Computer Name>...) and click OK to close the Options dialog box.
- Go the workstation that received the message, click OK in the message dialog box, then click OK to close the Options dialog box.
- From the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Select Firm/Preparer Info or Global Billing Options and make the necessary changes.
To edit your firm/preparer information or global billing options, when a shared forms file is not opened by another workstation or user:
- Have all users close ProSeries or ProSeries Express.
- Run HomeBase Tune-Up. (How do I run HomeBase Tune-Up?)
- When HomeBase Tune-Up is finished, open ProSeries.
- From the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Select Firm/Preparer Info or Global Billing Options and make the necessary changes.
If you still get this error, follow these steps:
- Close ProSeries or ProSeries Express on the server and all workstations.
- Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the X:\ProWin06\common folder for ProSeries or the X:\ExpWin06\common folder for ProSeries Express. (Where X is the hard drive where the ProSeries software is installed.)
- Right-click on the shrfrm06.lck file and select Delete.
Note: Shrfrm06.lck is a hidden file. If you are unable to see the file in Windows Explorer, go to the Tools menu, choose Folder Options, click View, check Show hidden files and folders, and click OK.
- Open ProSeries or ProSeries Express, you should now be able to edit your firm/preparer information or global billing options.
