QuickBooks Company File Information Does Not Match ProSeries Tax Return Information

Situation
The QuickBooks Company file information does not match the ProSeries tax return information. The QuickBooks Update procedure cannot proceed because the income tax form that is selected in the QuickBooks Company file does not match the signature form for the tax return that is open in ProSeries.
Solution
This situation may occur for the following reasons:
- The QuickBooks Company file that you selected for the import procedure was not the correct QuickBooks Company file, or
- An incorrect Income Tax Form Used is selected in the QuickBooks Company file that you selected for the import procedure.
If you selected the wrong QuickBooks Company file:
If you think the QuickBooks Company file that you selected for the import procedure was not the correct QuickBooks Company file, take the following steps:
- In ProSeries, go to the Import menu and select Update Return with QuickBooks Data.
- Select the correct QuickBooks Company file, then continue with the QuickBooks Update procedure.
If the QuickBooks Company file identifies the wrong income tax form:
If you think the QuickBooks Company file that you selected for the import procedure is the correct QuickBooks Company file but an incorrect income tax form is identified in the QuickBooks Company file, take the following steps:
- Start QuickBooks, then open the Company file with the data that you want to import into the ProSeries tax return.
- Go to the Company menu and select Company Information.
- In the Company Information dialog box, go to the Income Tax Form Used field.
- Select the appropriate main signature form for the company from the list of forms. Important: The form you select should be the main signature form for the client's return in ProSeries.
- Exit QuickBooks.
- Start ProSeries and open the client file.
- Go to the Import menu and select the Update Return with QuickBooks Data.
- Select the QuickBooks Company file, then continue with the QuickBooks Update procedure.
If the Income Tax Form Used field in the QuickBooks Company file matches the income tax form for the ProSeries tax return, the QuickBooks Update procedure should be successful.
