ProSeries Frequently Asked Questions
Bank Account Number in Client Organizer Contains X's
Products Affected: |
|
- ProSeries/Client Organizer
- ProSeries/1040
Situation
When a 2005 ProSeries/1040 return is transferred to 2006 Client Organizer, the bank account number for direct deposit displays and prints as a series of X's and the last four digits of the account number. This is for security reasons.
When you transfer the 2006 Client Organizer to the 2006 ProSeries/1040, the account number is still X'd out and cannot be reviewed.
Solution
This situation is corrected in the ProSeries/1040 update now available online. This update will allow the entire account number to be displayed and printed on Form 1040. Download and install the update. (Go to the Update menu and choose Update Installed Products.)
Notes
- We recommend that you do not transfer 2006 Client Organizers to 2006 ProSeries/1040 until after you download and install this update.
- If you have already transferred 2006 Client Organizers to 2006 ProSeries/1040 and are affected by this situation, you will need to transfer the Client Organizer files to ProSeries/1040 again. If you entered other data on the 2006 ProSeries 1040 tax return, that data will be lost when you re-transfer.
- If you transfer 2005 ProSeries/1040 returns directly to 2006 ProSeries/1040 the account number will not be X'd out.
