Printing Multiple Prior Year Tax Returns to DMS

Situation

When attempting to print multiple returns from prior year ProSeries or ProSeries Express tax programs to 2006 ProSeries Document Management System (DMS), the DMSAPI.EXE file may stay in memory and cause some performance issues with your computer.

Workarounds

If you encounter this situation, try one of the following workarounds:

Option 1

After printing multiple prior year tax returns to DMS, close all applications, and restart your computer. This will close the DMSAPI.EXE file. You will need to do this each time you print multiple prior year tax returns to DMS.

Option 2

1. Close ProSeries or ProSeries Express.
2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and click Task Manager.
3. Select DMSAPI.EXE and click End Task.
4. Repeat step 3 if more than one DMSAPI.EXE file is running.
