How do I use the Download Next Year's ProSeries Product feature?

Download Next Year's ProSeries Product

If you are connected to the Internet, you can use the "Download Next Year's ProSeries Product" feature within the 2005 program to easily download and install the first tax year 2006 product when it becomes available online. (From the Help menu, choose Download Next Year's ProSeries Product.)

If you attempt to use this feature before the download is available, a dialog box will inform you that the tax year 2006 product is not available for download at this time... Click OK and try again later after the download is available. View anticipated ProSeries software release dates.

ProSeries/Client Organizer Note: This feature is designed to download and install only one new tax year 2006 product. If both 2005 ProSeries/Client Organizer and ProSeries/1040 are installed on your computer, the 2006 ProSeries/Client Organizer software will be installed when using this method. The 2006 software is installed as a separate program. To download and install 2006 ProSeries/1040, open the 2006 program and choose Select and Download New Products from the Update menu. Verify that 1040 is checked and follow the on-screen instructions. (ProSeries/Client Organizer is only compatible with ProSeries/1040; it cannot be used with ProSeries Express/1040 or ProSeries Basic/1040.)

If you are unable to use the "Download Next Year's ProSeries Product" feature to download your first tax year 2006 product, you can manually download your products from within My ProSeries.

Update Menu

After you have installed your first tax year 2006 product, you can easily download and install updates and new products from the Update menu within your 2006 product.

ProSeries CDs

If you do not wish to download your first tax year 2006 product as soon as it becomes available online, you can wait and install it from your ProSeries CD when it arrives. How do I install the ProSeries software from the CD?
