ProSeries Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use ProSeries/Client Organizer with ProSeries Express/1040?

Products Affected:

• ProSeries/Client Organizer
• ProSeries Express/1040

ProSeries/Client Organizer is compatible with ProSeries/1040. It is not compatible with ProSeries Express/1040 or ProSeries Basic/1040.

If you wish to use both ProSeries/Client Organizer and ProSeries Express/1040, you can install ProSeries/Client Organizer on one computer and ProSeries Express/1040 on another computer.

ProSeries and ProSeries Express Edition software cannot be installed on the same computer at the same time. If you only have one computer, you can install ProSeries/Client Organizer, then complete and print all your Organizers. Next, uninstall ProSeries/Client Organizer and install ProSeries Express/1040.

Note: If you used ProSeries/1040 last year, you can transfer your clients’ data from last year’s ProSeries/1040 into this year's Client Organizer. You can transfer this year's Client Organizer data into this year's ProSeries/1040. You can NOT transfer Client Organizer data into ProSeries Express/1040 or ProSeries Basic/1040.

As an alternative to the ProSeries/Client Organizer, the ProSereis Express/1040 includes a one page Client Information Form you can use to help gather basic client information. Print the Client Information Form and give it to your client to complete. Once completed, enter your client's information on the Federal Information Worksheet. Do NOT enter your client's information directly on the Client Information Form.

• This form is available in both English and Spanish.
• Client information you transfer or enter on the Federal Information Worksheet will flow to this form.
• If Client Info... doesn't display in the Forms Bar, click the All Forms tab at the bottom of the Forms Bar. (The Forms Bar appears on the left side of the open return.)
