How do I resubmit a rejected state return as State Only?

Products Affected:

• ProSeries/Individual States
• ProSeries Express/Individual States
• ProSeries Basic/Individual States

If you electronically filed a state return as a Fed/State combination, and the state return is rejected but the federal return is accepted, you may retransmit the state return as a State Only electronic filing.

To resubmit a return as State Only:

1. Open the federal return.
2. On the Federal Information Worksheet, scroll down to Part IV, Electronic Filing of Tax Return Information.
3. Uncheck the box for "File federal return electronically."
4. Go to the state return and save the state return.
5. Return to the HomeBase EF Center or EF Clients tab. 
6. Highlight ONLY the state return that is to be filed as State Only.
7. Convert and retransmit the state return.
