Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act Privacy Policy Notification for Clients

The ProSeries and ProSeries Express Client Letter contains a privacy statement that can be inserted into the client letter to help you comply with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requirement for annual notification of your privacy policy.

Note: This privacy statement is intended for tax professionals who do not disclose any nonpublic personal client information (current or former clients) with nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted or required by law. Consult your attorney to ensure this letter incorporates your firm's practices. For additional information regarding the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act go to http://www.ftc.gov/privacy/index.html.

To insert the paragraph into the client letter, follow these steps:

  1. From within the federal individual tax return, go to the Tools menu, point to Letters, and select Edit Client Letter.
  2. In the Edit Letter dialog box, choose Standard Client Letter or Custom Client Letter and click Edit.
  3. Click in the text of the letter where you want the privacy statement to appear.
  4. Select Privacy Statement or FDIPRIVACY from the list of federal paragraphs, the second tab of letter codes. 
  5. Click and drag the code to the letter.
  6. Save the letter.
