To restore client files that you copied/backed up using Client File Maintenance in ProSeries:

Note: If you backed up your client files to a CD, see below.

  1. In ProSeries, go to HomeBase and select the appropriate view or tab.
  2. From the File menu, point to Client File Maintenance and select Restore.
  3. Use the Set source directory button to navigate to the location of the backed up files. (The default source directory is where you last backed up files. No directory is specified if you have not backed up files.)
  4. Select the Type of return to be restored.
  5. Select the client files to be restored. Hold down the CTRL key to select more than one file or use the Select All button.
  6. Use the Set target directory button to select the correct directory for the restored client files.
  7. Click Restore client(s).

For Files Backed Up to CD

On some CDs the files may inherit an attribute of read only. ProSeries cannot use read only client files. To restore read only files backed up to a CD:

  1. Using your media software or Windows Explorer, copy the backed up files from the CD to a folder on your hard drive. We recommend that you NOT copy these files directly to your ProSeries data folder. The default client data folders are (where X represents the drive where ProSeries is installed):
    • ProSeries Default = X:\ProWin06\06Data
    • ProSeries Express Edition Default = X:\ExpWin06\06Data
    • ProSeries Basic Edition Default = X:\BasWin06\06Data
  2. Select the copied files.
  3. In Windows Explorer, go to the File menu and select Properties.
  4. In the Properties dialog box, under Attributes, uncheck all the boxes except Archive.
  5. Click Apply, then OK.
  6. Open the ProSeries program and follow steps 1 - 7 in the top section to restore your backed up client data files.
