ProSeries Frequently Asked Questions
How do I perform database maintenance in HomeBase?
Products Affected: |
|
- ProSeries
- ProSeries Express Edition
- ProSeries Basic Edition
Database maintenance helps to ensure that your client files correspond to your HomeBase Client File database by synchronizing your HomeBase Client File database with your client files. It's a good idea to run DataBase Maintenance if you're having any problems with HomeBase. Be sure to run database maintenance if you encounter one or more of the following specific problems with your client files or your HomeBase Client File database:
- A client file doesn't have a corresponding database record
- A database record doesn't have a client file in the indicated directory
- A client file was saved more recently than the database record for the client file indicates
- There are two or more database records with the same social security number or employer identification number, which indicates that there are duplicate client files
Network Users
New for Tax Year 2006: Network users should open ProSeries and press F5 to refresh the HomeBase view on each workstation instead of performing database maintenance.
Standalone Users
To perform database maintenance:
- Go to HomeBase.
Note: You need to select a forms view or tab such as 1040. Maintenance will not work on the special views or tabs such as All Tax Returns view, EF Center, EF Clients, or Bank Product Clients.
- From the HomeBase menu, select DataBase Maintenance.
- Highlight the correct folder for your client files and click OK. (Your client files may not be in the default location.)
- If there are any inconsistencies, the HomeBase Reconciliation dialog box will appear.
- Click Show Details to view a list of files in each category.
- Click Fix It to synchronize your client files and HomeBase.
- Click Help for more information about the HomeBase Reconciliation dialog box.
- Click Recheck to ensure that you have fixed any inconsistencies.
- Click Close.
- To perform maintenance on a different view, select the view and repeat steps 2 through 5.
