IRS QuickAlert: 1040 e-file Last Day to File

IMPORTANT INTUIT ELECTRONIC FILING CENTER DEADLINES:

Returns filed on or before October 15, 2007 and rejected may be retransmitted until October 20, 2007. Retransmitted returns must be transmitted to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center by 6 a.m. (Pacific Time) on October 20, 2007 in order to make the 11:00 a.m. final IRS drain for the tax year.
The Intuit Electronic Filing Center will be closed October 26 - November 13, 2007 for annual upgrades and maintenance. Be sure to receive all 1040 federal and state acknowledgments by October 25, 2007, as these will not be available when the Intuit Electronic Filing Center comes back online in November. Learn more

On October 12, 2007, the IRS sent out the following QuickAlert: 1040 e-file Last Day to File

"ATTN: Software Developers, Return Transmitters and Authorized IRS e-file Providers/EROs and Federal/States e-file Participants

The last production drain for corrected transmissions of Form 1040 returns will be on October 20, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. your local time. The Electronic Management System will not be available after 11:00 a.m. your local time for transmitting returns. The Federal Acknowledgement Files (Acks) must be picked up no later than 6:00 p.m. on October 20, 2007 your local time.

States must pick up all files, process them and transmit all State Acknowledgments to the Electronic Management System by 4:00 p.m. on October 22, 2007 your local time. All Ack files must be retrieved no later than 6:00 p.m. on October 22 your local time. The system will be taken down at 6:00 p.m. in preparation for the 2008 Filing Season. There will be no extension to this time.
