On July 27, 2007, the IRS sent out the following QuickAlert: Individual Filers - Missing Form 8453 Letter Sequence
"The Internal Revenue Service corresponds with Electronic Return Originators when required Forms 8453, U.S. Individual Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Return, are identified as missing or incomplete. Warning Letter 2750, which includes a list of missing and incomplete Forms 8453, will be mailed the week of July 29, 2007; a timely response from recipients will be required. Electronic Return Originators that remain non-compliant will receive Suspension Letter 2752 in late September. Electronic Return Originators who are lax, negligent or untimely in mailing Forms 8453 to the IRS may be sanctioned or suspended.
Due to the anticipated number of calls to the e-Help Desk, callers may experience delays.
Per Publication 1345, Electronic Return Originators must mail completed Forms 8453 to the IRS within three business days after receiving acknowledgement of electronic return acceptance. An electronically transmitted return will not be considered complete until a Form 8453 signed by the taxpayer is received by the IRS. Please note that if a PIN signature method was accepted by the IRS, Form 8453 is NOT to be mailed to the IRS.
Thank you for your cooperation.
