ProSeries Frequently Asked Questions

Update Required for Electronic Filing - Unable to Update ProSeries

Products Affected:

• ProSeries
• ProSeries Express Edition
• ProSeries Basic Edition

Situation

When you attempt to electronically file a return, you receive a message to update. When you try to update from within a ProSeries product, you receive a message that no updates were found.

Workaround

Manually download and install the latest version of the ProSeries product.

1. Go to this Web page.
2. When the Web page displays, select the Tax Year and Tax Product Family to see a list of available products to download.
3. From the list of products, click the Download button for the product you want to download.
4. Save the download file and install the product. (More detailed instructions.) If you need more than one product, each product will need to be downloaded and installed separately.
5. Product licensing is required before you can print or electronically file returns.

Notes

• Products that aren't licensed for unlimited use can be used on a Pay-Per-Return basis.

• Service and delivery fees may also apply. Contact Customer Service for assistance.
• You cannot run ProSeries and ProSeries Express products on the same computer.
