Items addressed in this product update
We have listened to your feedback over the last week and have incorporated
over a dozen improvements to the Source Doc Auto-Entry product. Following
are the major improvements:
- Several improvements to the character recognition technology.
(Examples: Improvements in some instances to Form W-2 boxes 1 and 2, Employer
EIN, and Employee's SSN.)
- Improvement in the time it takes to scan and recognize
documents in some instances.
- Added a new feature which allows you to mouse over the
diagnostics in the Review screen (indicated by a red highlight) to see further
details.
- Addressed several issues related to importing data into
the tax return:
- Addressed the issue with not being able to import Form
SSA-1099 data.
- Addressed the issue when husband and wife have a source
document from the same employer or financial institution.
- Addressed the issue when Source Doc Auto-Entry doesn't
recognize a client but the client does exist. There is a new option
to find an existing client.
- Addressed 1099-INT and 1099-DIV issue when a prior
year 1099-INT or 1099-DIV exists.
- Addressed 1099-MISC issue so that a new 1099-MISC copy
isn't created if it is from the same provider as the prior year.
- Addressed the issue when using the "Browse Documents"
button and importing multiple documents at one time.
- Addressed the issue in which user changes made on the
review screen do not get imported to the Federal Information Worksheet.
- Addressed issue in which unsupported documents are not
displayed in the list of documents after scanning.
Issues we are researching and hope to resolve in the future
- Improvement to the character recognition of Paychex and
W-2 eXpress W-2's.
- Improvement to the character recognition of QuickBooks
3-up and 4-up W-2's.
- Improvement to the character recognition of the Nelco format
for 3-up and 4-up W-2's.
- Improvements to the Form SSA-1099 which addresses changes
to the 2006 form.
We encourage familiarizing yourself with our supported formats. The payroll
company W-2's can easily be identified because they are sent in self-mailers.
The IRS formats can be found by visiting www.irs.gov
and searching for the form number.
We are excited about all of these improvements, and hope you find them valuable.
We will continue to make improvements and send updates throughout the season.
Continue to send us your feedback. And, watch for our e-mail announcements
as we continue to provide you with the latest news on Source Doc Auto-Entry!
