HomeBase can be customized to display a large range of information from client files. To create a HomeBase view or tab to display the client's birthday for Form 1040 individual returns, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the ProSeries HomeBase Form 1040: Individuals view or the ProSeries Express 1040 tab.
  2. Go to the HomeBase menu and select Column Headings.
  3. In the Available columns field on the left, scroll through the entries, select Taxpayer Birthday and click the Add>> button. The new field is added to the bottom of the list. Use the Move Up button to position the field in the order you want it to appear in HomeBase.
  4. Click OK to close the Columns dialog box.
  5. To save your new view or tab, from the HomeBase menu, select Save View As (or Save Tab As), enter a name, and click Save.
    Note:
If you forget to save your view or tab, the Save View Settings dialog box will appear when you switch to a different view or tab. Select Save and rename these changes in a new view and click OK to save the view or tab.
  6. You can now select the new view or tab in HomeBase and review and sort the information. Click on the Taxpayer Birthday column heading to sort the column. To sort the column in the reverse direction, click the column heading again.

Note: If a file is password protected the taxpayer's birthday will not appear in the Taxpayer Birthday column, asterisks will appear instead.

If you want to print labels, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to HomeBase and select the new view or tab if it is not already selected.
  2. Select the clients for whom you want to print labels. (Use the CTRL key or the SHIFT key to select multiple client files.)
  3. Go to the File menu and choose Print.
  4. In the Print Center, select Print Client Labels.
  5. In the Print Client Labels section, select 2 across or 3 across.
  6. Click Print.

Note: Labels begin printing in location 1-1, you cannot specify a label location. We suggestion that you print a full page of labels, when possible.

Reminder: If you did not designate the Label Printer when you were setting up your Printer Options, you will need to do so before you begin printing labels. You can designate the Label Printer in the Printer, PDF, and DMS Setup section of the Print Center.
