Print

On May 1, 2007, the IRS sent out the following QuickAlert: Return of Unsigned Forms 8453 for Individual Returns

"ATTN: Software Developers, Return Transmitters and Authorized IRS e-file Providers/Electronic Return Originators

Thank you for your continued support of Individual e-file. As a reminder, e-file signature authorization Forms 8879 and 8878 are to be retained for your records and should not be sent to the IRS. You may electronically image and store these forms using the guidelines in Revenue Procedure 97-22, Retention of Books and Records. You can easily access this document when you search for Internal Revenue Bulletin 1997-13 on www.irs.gov.

The Andover and Austin Processing Campuses continues to receive hundreds of these forms and as a result, the service must return them to the Electronic Return Originator.
This process of returning these forms to the Electronic Return Originator reduce the time the e-help desk has to devote to your e-file inquiries.
Please help us to help you by keeping these forms in your office files.

Thank you for your cooperation.
