Tip: Using the Query Feature to Filter HomeBase

You can use the Query feature to quickly filter a product-specific HomeBase
view or tab according to a specific field and value. You can save the modified
HomeBase view or tab for future use or discard it.
For example, you might want to filter the Form 1040: Individuals view or
1040 tab to show only the clients for whom extensions were filed or if there
is more than one preparer in your office, only the clients whose returns you
prepared.
Note: This feature cannot be used with the ProSeries EF Center and
Bank Products views or the ProSeries Express Edition EF Clients and Bank Product
Clients tabs. In these views or tabs you can only sort columns, you cannot
customize columns or save changes.
To filter a HomeBase view or tab with a query:
- Go to the HomeBase menu and choose Query.
- In the Query dialog box, select the field that
you want to use for the query from the Select the field to use for the
Query section.
- Select the value that you want from the Select the
value to use for the Query section.
- Click OK. The HomeBase client view or tab now includes
only the client files that match the query criteria you selected.
To discard the modified view or tab and go back to All Records:
- Go to the HomeBase menu and choose Query.
- When the Query dialog box appears, go to the Select
the field to use for the Query section and select All Records.
- Click OK. You will now see all the client files
for that HomeBase view or tab.
To save the modified view or tab to a new HomeBase view or tab:
- Go to the HomeBase menu and choose Save View
As or Save Tab As.
- When the Save View As dialog box appears, go to
the Save this view as section and enter a new name.
- Click Save.
To save the modified view or tab to the current HomeBase view or tab:
- Go to the HomeBase menu.
- Choose Save View or Save Tab. If you are
using the standard HomeBase view or tab for a product, such as Form 1040:
Individuals or 1040, Save View or Save Tab will not be available because
you cannot modify a standard HomeBase view or tab.
To delete a modified view or tab:
- Go to any HomeBase view or tab, except the one you want
to delete. You cannot be on the modified HomeBase view or tab you want to
delete.
- Go to the HomeBase menu and choose Delete View
or Delete Tab.
- When the Delete Views dialog box appears, choose
the HomeBase view or tab you want to delete. Click Delete and Yes.
Note: When you leave the modified view or tab, if you did not discard
or save the modified view or tab the Save View Settings dialog box will appear.
Choose the appropriate option and click OK.
